Job Skills Training

Ebony O'Neal Randolph - High School Education Advocate

This May our students were introduced to LA Youth at Work, a program through the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce that helps young adults ages 16-24 obtain entry-level job trainings and work experiences, by our awesome volunteer Erin Flynn. They work to move Los Angeles forward by using our education system that helps develop each child’s talents. Increasing educational attainment will positively impact the economic prosperity of our region and quality of life for our residents.

Our students had the opportunity to receive a three hour jobs training class that helped them with interview skills, applications, resumes, and professional development. They later received individual help on their resumes, applications and interview techniques. Our goal was to make our students confident and comfortable when in a professional setting. After all this our students were tested on basic math skills, comprehension, and customer service to receive a job readiness certification. Along with a certification our students were guaranteed interviews for the summer. We are now currently waiting and excited to find out where are students get placed!
